Who would have thought that we would reach an age where the word “stairs” would mean so much more? When you think of a staircase, you may have previously thought that one size fits all and that they are all the same, but this is far from the case. There are a wide variety of stairs suitable for all kinds of uses to make your life easier, whether at home or at work. Today we will take a closer look at step ladders.
First of all, why are step ladders so popular?
Versatility. The step ladder provides ease of use for a variety of daily tasks for both professional and home activities. They can adapt to different environments and even though they don't provide the greatest height or are too large, you can't fault their value.
But there is so much more to it than just “stepping stairs,” and as you try to navigate the sea of materials and features they describe, you may be unsure of what the best option is for you.
Frames: Fiberglass or metal?
At BPS we provide two main frames of fiberglass and metal (more specifically aluminium) for your standard step ladder. As with almost all types of step ladders, their design is the same, but strong materials provide special functions to ensure your safety.
The fiberglass model was created for situations where you work around an electrical infrastructure, such as electricians. Tradesmen will get the most benefit from them when working close to electricity, as fiberglass is non-conductive up to 30,000 volts, so your risk of electrocution is greatly reduced. Additionally, their strong durability makes them ideal for outdoor conditions.
On the other hand, the metal frame is also useful for other tasks. The aluminum it is made from is very lightweight, which makes it easy to carry with you if you are on the go a lot, for example if you are a painter/decorator. This also makes it easier to use whether you use step ladders regularly or not.
